103 BWL Customers On Boil Water Advisory Due to Water Main Break
The Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL) has 103 customers on a boil water advisory on W. Grand River between Grove Rd. and Forest Hills Rd, including Industrial Parkway, National Parkway, John Henry Dr, S. Lowell Rd between W. Grand River and State Rd, Ingersoll Rd, Watertown Parkway, Thunder Ln and Country Village Mobile Homes, after a water main break in the area. The break occurred late Monday night, July 17 which resulted in a loss of water pressure and final repairs were made today. BWL crews are going door-to-door to alert impacted customers of the temporary notice.
Water for those impacted should be brought to a boil and continuously boiled for three minutes before use, or use bottled water, until further notice. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
“We know this is an inconvenience for our customers, but we want to take every precaution to ensure we’re delivering safe water,” said BWL General Manager Dick Peffley.
The BWL is conducting water quality tests and further details will be shared after test results are received. The BWL apologizes for any inconvenience to customers.
