Steam Production Restored at BWL’s REO Cogeneration Plant
The Lansing Board of Water & Light has completed making repairs to the REO Cogeneration Plant following equipment failure that resulted in a steam outage beginning around 1am today, impacting approximately 200 downtown customers. Repairs were made around 10am, which restored steam production and gradually began increasing transmission to full pressure to customers to protect the underground steam system. While buildings have started receiving heat, it can take time to fully warm back up.
The BWL apologizes for the inconvenience to customers caused by the outage.
