Why is the South Reinforcement Transmission Line Project needed for the City of Lansing?

The South Reinforcement Transmission Line project is a part of BWL’s major electric modernization program called Lansing Energy Tomorrow. Due to aging infrastructure there is a need for transmission line upgrade that will improve the reliability and add to the redundancy of the grid. The Southside Reinforcement Transmission Line project will address these needs by a new 138 kV transmission line, 6.7 miles in length, that will link upgraded substations with clean power generation
