BWL Continues to Work on Restoration Following Wind Storm

The Lansing Board of Water & Light is experiencing widespread outages throughout its service territory due to the strong and gusty winds. As of 4:40pm Wednesday, 16,161 customers are without power with 128 wires down. More than a dozen outside line crews from across Michigan, Indiana and Iowa and a dozen outside tree crews have been brought in to help with restoration efforts. Customers should visit the outage map for updated restoration times.

The BWL appreciates patience as crews continue to work as quickly and safely as is possible. When the wind blows above 45mph, crews aren't able to go up into bucket trucks to repair lines for safety reasons.

Please stay at least 25 feet from downed lines. Intersections with traffic signals out should be treated as 4-way stops.

Customers who have experienced a single service outage due to mast damage are responsible to have repairs done before the BWL is able to restore power. Customers may use any of the BWL approved electrical contractors to have repairs made and payments financed interest free for 12 months. For more information, visit www.lbwl.com/outagecenter.

Outages can also be reported by visiting the Outage Center at www.lbwl.com/outagecenter, using the BWL Outage Center mobile app or texting “out” or “outage” to 898295 or txtbwl. Updates will also be posted on the BWL Facebook page and Twitter.
