BWL 1st S.T.E.P. Student-Parent Orientation to be Held at REO Depot

The Lansing Board of Water & Light will hold the BWL 1st S.T.E.P. Student-Parent Orientation tonight, Thursday, September 14 at 6pm in the REO Depot, 1201 S. Washington Ave., Lansing. This meeting is mandatory for any high school senior in the BWL service territory who is interested in participating in the program. It will introduce parents and students to the utility industry, and talk about different jobs available for students to apply for. No pre-registration necessary.

1st S.T.E.P. positions are open for all high school seniors who live within BWL’s service territory. During their time at the BWL, each student is paired with an employee mentor. Successful students in the program gain work experience and a scholarship to Lansing Community College.

Since its inception in 2008, 1st S.T.E.P. has graduated over 100 high school students and awarded over $150,000 in scholarships.
